New Helensburgh lifeboat shows off her paces

On a beautiful sunny day last week, the new Helensburgh lifeboat was officially named 'Angus and Muriel McKay' at Rhu Marina.

The new lifeboat is an Atlantic 85 capable of 35 knots and carrying 4 crew. The lifeboat is named after Captain Angus McKay, who was a Member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, and his wife Muriel who was a Primary School Teacher. It was aways their wish that part of their legacies should be given to fund a lifeboat in Scotland and 'Angus and Muriel McKay' was handed over to the Helensburgh Lifeboat Station by their nephew.
