New Portishead Lifeboat Station takes shape

New Portishead Lifeboat Station takes shape

Work is well under way to build a new lifeboat station on the site of the Masonic Lodge by Royal Beach close to the entrance of Portishead Quays Marina.

The new lifeboat station will be capable of accommodating an Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat and the 60 metre slipway currently under construction will allow all tide access. The existing lifeboat is run by the Portishead Lifeboat Trust but will be adopted by the RNLI on completion of the building work next Spring.

The local fundraising target to contribute to the new station is £232000 and the Appeal is well on the way to achieving that. Those interested can contribute £5 to the Appeal by texting RNLI Portishead to 70300 and further information can be found at www.portishead-lifeboat.org.uk.
