Lifeboats fill the lock at Portishead Quays Marina

It was a great sight when 6 out of service lifeboats filled the lock at Portishead Quays Marina recently.

The former lifeboats were leaving for Penarth Quays Marina at the beginning of an extended trip to The Channel Islands. It was an especially proud moment for Portishead Quays Marina Manager, Keith Berry, who purchased a Tyne Class former lifeboat, Mary Irene Miller, in the winter and was taking her for her first voyage under his ownership. Mary Irene Miller (47-033) gave fantastic service as the Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway lifeboat between 1989 and 2012.It was also a great chance for Keith to get out on the water to celebrate his recent 60th birthday! Meanwhile construction work on the new Portishead Lifeboat Station, just outside the marina, is well under way.
