Gig Naming Ceremony at Portishead Festival on the Quay

It was a great family day last Saturday as the local community and Portishead Quays Marina berth holders turned out in force for The Festival on the Quay.
In the morning, the star attraction was Olympic Gold Medal winner Amy Williams MBE who took the plunge in the marina and was rescued by The Newfoundland Rescue Dogs who were raising funds for Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
There was also a proud moment for The Portishead Pilot Gig Club as their brand new gig 'Phoenix' was officially named in a ceremony by RNLI Padre, Reverend Philip Auden.
The Beach Buddies Seaside Puppet Theatre which delivers beach and water safety messages to children and is the brainchild of Portishead RNLI volunteers was also on show. There was music throughout the day and evening and a variety of interesting stalls were kept busy.
Thanks to the Marina Team, Hall and Woodhouse Portishead and the RNLI for making it such a great day.
