Retired lifeboats head for Brittany

Mary Irene Millar, a retired Tyne Class lifeboat owned by Portishead Quays Marina Manager, Keith Berry, is one of three retired lifeboats heading to Brittany in early May.

The group will take in the Liberation Celebrations in Guernsey and will visit Carteret and Jersey before reaching their destination at Binic in Brittany. During their four day stay at Binic, the lifeboats will be welcoming both adults and children with limiting disabilities together with their carers on board for a spin round the bay which gives them the chance to enjoy quality time on the water which is not an opportunity which is normally open to them.

This is the fourth time that the lifeboats have visited Binic and their annual visit has become an important and popular event for the local community.
