Penarth Quays Marina's first Open Day on 25th May was an outstanding success and attracted plenty of interest from members of the public as well as marina berth holders.
It was a real family day out with free kayaking and paddle boarding to anyone keen enough to don life jackets and brave the elements. These intrepid individuals included Stephen Doughty MP for Cardiff South and Penarth who joined Penarth Quays Marina Manager, Stuart Jones, for a foray around the marina.
The Penarth Sea Cadets were on hand to take visitors on a water-borne tour of the marina and both the 72 ft round the world yacht, Challenge Wales, and Sea Vision, a 60 ft luxury motor cruiser, were open to the public for the day.
The RNLI Sea Safety team were also available to give advice to newcomers to boating as well as carrying out appraisals of safety equipment on boats in the marina on request.
The Open Day was one of the many events being organised at Penarth under the 'RYA Active Marina' programme.
