New Fisheries Protection Vessel named in ceremony at Conwy Quays Marina

Conwy Quays Marina hosted an important event recently.

Welsh Government Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, officially named a new Fisheries Protection Vessel, Lady Megan. In accordance with tradition, the Minister poured champagne over the bow of the new FPV which was built in Wales as part of the Welsh Government Vessel Replacement Programme.

The FPV is named after Criccieth born Lady Megan Arvon Lloyd George who was a Welsh politician and the first female MP in the House of Commons to represent a Welsh constituency.

Lady Megan will be based at Conwy Quays Marina and her predecessor 'FPV Aegis' , a familiar sight to Conwy berth holders, has been handed over to the Liberian Government to undertake fishery protection duties in that country.
