Cabinet Secretary launches FPV Catrin at Conwy Quays Marina

Lesley Griffiths AM, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy,Planning and Rural Affairs, gave Wales's fisheries patrol team a major boost when she launched the Welsh Government's latest high speed patrol boat, FPV Catrin, at Conwy Quays Marina.

The new Fisheries Protection Vessel is named after Catrin Glyndwr, a prominent woman in Welsh history and the only daughter of Owain Glyndwr, the last Welsh born Prince of Wales. FPV Catrin is the first of three new Welsh patrol vessels with FPV Rhodri Morgan and FPV Lady Megan both under construction in Pembrokeshire and due to be launched later this year.

Speaking prior to the launching ceremony the Cabinet Secretary said,'I am delighted to be here in Conwy to celebrate the christening launch of FPV Catrin. She will ensure that we can continue to effectively enforce fisheries and marine laws and meet our commitment to manage our fish stocks sustainably.'
