MS Artania visits Bangor

MS Artania visits Bangor

On Monday 5th June, Bangor Marina, part of Quay Marinas, welcomed the cruise ship MS Artania to Bangor.
She was built for Princess Cruises in Helsinki, Finland, and was launched on 18 February 1984 by Princess Diana.
With a length of 230 metres, MS Artania is the largest cruise ship to visit Bangor.
Throughout the day, four tender boats carrying up to 60 passengers each ferried over 1095 passengers and 500 crew to the shore and back.
The local Main Street supermarkets reported a roaring trade in tinned meats and shore side security reported that some crew took back up to 20 tins of SPAM each. Apparently, SPAM is a popular and sought-after food with crew from the Philippines.
