Honda RYA Youth RIB Champs come to Bangor

On Saturday 3rd May, Quay Marinas' Bangor Marina helped host the prestigious Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship at Bangor Harbour.

The event saw youngsters pitted against each other in a time trail around a slalom course within the safe confines of Bangor Harbour. Two winners from this region will go forward and represent Northern Ireland at the UK final in Southampton for the chance to win their yacht club a brand new powerboat with Honda engine.

Event Organiser Rory Flannigan had this to say of the event: “It is a great way to get young powerboat drivers competing against each other in a safe environment and it is a great way for them to build on their boat handling skills. We wish to express our thanks to Quay Marinas for organising use of the Harbour and also to the RNLI Bangor for allowing us to hold the land side event in the lifeboat station.
