Dunkirk Little Ship 'Elvin' visits Bangor Marina

Bangor Marina was pleased to welcome the Dunkirk Little Ship 'Elvin' which is currently on a 5 month cicumnavigation of Great Britain.
Elvin was built as a gentleman's motor yacht in 1937 at Clapson's boatyard at Barton on Humber. During the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk in 1940, the 10.8m long Elvin was successful in transporting 25 French troops and 8 British troops across the English Channel where they disembarked at Ramsgate. Some feat, considering her tiny size!
Keep an eye out for Elvin in the film 'Dunkirk' which will be released shortly and stars, among others, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh.
