Portishead plays host to Gig Racing

On 21st October, the new slipway at Portishead Quays Marina was used to launch the 17 gigs competing in races from Portishead Point up the River Avon to the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The races were organised by the recently formed Bristol Pilot Gig Club and the Club’s 2 gigs, Young Bristol and Isambard, both took part. The race was a great success and it is hoped that it will become an annual event.
