Dredging update at Conwy

In early October, top Dutch dredging company Van Oord completed the first phase of a 3 part dredging campaign at Conwy Quays Marina to be carried out during the autumn/ winter period. The water injection dredger 'Odin' (pictured) carried out work to the marina fairways and to the area close to the lay by pontoon just outside the sill gate. Next month we will welcome a cutter suction dredger operated by Land and Water Special Projects to work on the hard sandy area adjacent to A leg and the fuel pontoon. Finally in January Van Oord will be returning with their other small water injection dredger 'Baldur' to dredge specific berthing areas within the marina.

Quay Marinas' Managing Director, Simon Haigh said 'Dredging is a fact of life for marina operators but we have been working hard with our dredging partners and with the Statutory Authorities to tailor a sustainable and effective dredging programme for Conwy and we hope that the remainder of this winter's campaign will go smoothly and will be welcomed by our customers.'
