More Gold Anchors for Bangor Marina

Quay Marinas Limited has again been awarded Five Gold Anchors for Bangor Marina following a three-yearly re-assessment of the services, facilities and operations of the harbour estate by The Yacht Harbour Association on 14th May.

The Marina was first awarded Five Gold Anchors in 1996 and has been voluntarily reassessed twice since then. The inspection regime covers ten aspects of the marina and harbour operations, including health and safety, environmental issues, including water clarity, staffing, training, equipment, maintenance, marketing and customer service. The assessor's report concluded that Bangor "is without doubt a well run and high quality operation well deserving of the Five Gold Anchor award."

There are 51 marinas holding the Five Gold Anchor Award worldwide.

Quay Marinas Director and Manager at Bangor, Andrew Jaggers said: "It is always gratifying when an independent audit of your marina has such a positive result. We are fortunate at Bangor to have fine facilities, well motivated staff and a growing customer base. This award is a great way to start off a new 15 year management and operating agreement with North Down Borough Council."

Mayor of North Down, Alderman Leslie Cree, MLA, said: "Council is delighted that this award has been made. It is a timely endorsement of our decision to grant Quay Marinas an ongoing licence to operate Bangor Harbour and Marina. On behalf of Council I would like to congratulate the company and, in particular, the local staff on winning this award, which is a fitting recognition of the superb facilities and service on offer in Bangor."
