Ferries
The A55/A5 roads link Conwy directly with the Ferry terminal at Holyhead, approximately 45 miles away. The A55 and UK motorway system also make the terminal at Liverpool accessible from where P&O Ferries operate. The HSS Seacat is fully operational and offers a high speed crossing to Southern Ireland from Holyhead.
When entering Conwy from seaward, the Fairway buoy RW is in position 53'17.95'N 003' 55.58'W.
Points to Note- The channel changes frequently. Pleast note - take extra care in the region of the jetty as it is an obstruction which protrudes approximately 5m and is unlit.
- The Scabs form a bar between No. 6 and No. 8 buoys.
- Round the perch light and number 11 buoy.
- All buoys in the channel are now lit except C16.
- When entering the marina, which is on the Conwy side of the estuary, the entrance is marked by port and starboard traffic pylons.
- Until skippers are familiar with the channel, they are advised to navigate the channel within 2 hours either side of HW. As a guide, if the concrete footing on the base of the Perch Light or Sandbanks outside the river entrance is covered, vessels drawing up to 2m should be able to enter in safety. The minimum depth of water at LW neaps is 1.8m throughout the passage.
Please note there is a speed limit of 10 knots in the river from the Perch Light to Cymryd Point. - In 2003 Admiralty chart 1463 Conwy Bay and approaches was introduced and should be referred to when navigating the Conwy area.

The marina has a tidal sill to provide an impounded yacht basin which gives a much improved environment for marina users to enjoy and which also reduces siltation.
Vessel access is via an automatic flap gate, 25 metres in width, enabling boats to enter or leave when the tide exceeds height of +3.5m above chart datum. (Generally half tide access or better). Outside this period, vessels waiting to enter the marina may hold on the purpose built pontoons just outside the gate entrance.

Conwy Marina is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and makes a fine base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.
Conwy castle was the third of Edward 1st's great castles. Built in 1283 on a rocky site at the mouth of the River Conwy and against a background of wooded hills, it is an impressive fortress, with massive battlemented walls and eight commanding drum towers. It is also one of the best preserved of all Britain's medieval castles.
At Conwy Visitor's Centre in Rosehill Street, a 20 minute film "in search of Conwy" takes you through the town's 800 year history. An exhibition also creates scenes from the past.
Conwy is a fascinating walled town of quaint narrow streets. Among the few ancient houses that still survive are Aberconwy, owned by the National Trust, a 14th century house used for exhibitions showing the history of the town, and Plas Mawr, one of the finest remaining examples of an Elizabethan country house.
On a smaller scale the town boasts Britain's smallest house, a Victorian fisherman's cottage. Measuring 6' in width and standing 10' high; its two rooms are linked by a vertical staircase.
The River Conwy is spanned by three bridges, the most impressive being Telford's suspension bridge built in 1826. This was superseded by the road bridge of 1958 and Robert Stephenson's splendid railway bridge from 1846.
The river also offers some interesting activities. The water bus Queen Victoria sails 7 days a week from Easter to late October (see notices on the quay or ring 01492 592284 for further details).
River trips offer spectacular views of the Conwy Valley, whilst from the estuary, Puffin Island, Anglesey and the Great Orme can be seen.
You can take an authentic Canadian canoe to explore the area from a completely new angle, for further details ring 01492 596457.
The Conwy School of Yachting offers a wide range of instructional courses for yachtsmen of all ages.
Full details are available on Tel: 01492 572999.
Further afield, visitors will undoubtedly enjoy the outstanding panoramic sea views over the town of Llandudno from the Great Orme. This well known landmark has been developed as a tourist attraction in recent years and now boasts many places of interest which are particularly suitable for families with young children. These include such leisure facilities as cable cars, a dry ski slope with bar and restaurant, trams and a historic copper mine.
As a prominent seaside resort, Llandudno itself offers a wide variety of leisure activities including a 12 lane bowling alley complete with excellent bar and restaurant.
The miniature village of Portmerion is situated on the secluded Llyn Peninsula. The brainchild of architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, this model village became famous following the television series, 'The Prisoner' broadcast during the 1960's.
The village comprises an unusual mix of eighteenth century style cottages and Italianate buildings set around a central piazza. The village is open all year round, with reduced admission offers between the winter months November to March.
Finally, situated above the River Conwy are the Bodnant Gardens. With their breathtaking views across the valley towards the Snowdon Range, Bodnant Gardens are reputed to be amongst the finest in the World. Refreshment facilities are available in the Pavilion near the car park.

We take our customers' safety very seriously. Please therefore read and follow the guidance notes below. You should familiarise yourself with the locations of safety equipment, and its operation. Customers should also ensure that their guests are aware of safety considerations.
General
- Take care on the pontoons, especially at night or in cold weather - do not run. Use the handrail on the access ramp
- Ensure that young children and non-swimmers wear life jackets when on the pontoons or afloat
- Please do not allow children to 'ride' in the marina trolleys
- Report any damaged or defective equipment immediately
- Barbecues are not permitted onboard or on the pontoons
- Keep pontoon walkways clear of equipment
- Allow pontoon water supply to run for 30 seconds before filling your tanks
Marina SOS stations
These are positioned at various points around the marina and are home to a fire extinguisher, life ring and audible alarm. In the event of an emergency, the alarm should be activated to summon assistance from other berth holders and/or the duty Berthing Master.
Falling in
There are two fixed safety ladders on each leg of the marina. Be sure that you know where they are situated.
Fire drill
- Raise the alarm
- Contact the Marina Office. We will call the Fire Brigade if they have not already been called
- Clear the area of any people who may be in danger and, in particular, those who are down wind of the fire
- Tackle the fire only if it is considered safe to do so
- Leave the area in an orderly manner (do not run)
- In the event of a fire gather at the fire muster point in the marina car park
Pontoon electrical outlets
When disconnecting your vessel from shore power, remove the power socket from the power outlet first to avoid a 'live end'. Do not leave 'live' cables on the pontoons. We undertake routine inspections of electrical equipment for your safety. Please report any damage to our equipment and periodically inspect your power leads for wear and tear.
Fuel berth & fuelling
- No smoking or naked lights whilst on the fuel berth
- Engines must not be used on the fuel berth
- Mobile phones must not be used on the fuel berth
- Fuel will only be served into appropriate containers
- All refuelling must take place on the fuel berth and from our supply
Speed restrictions
Please observe the DEAD SLOW speed limit and do not create excessive wash within the confines of the marina or by vessels moored near the marina. There is a speed limit within the estuary of 10 knots between the Perch Light and Cymryd Point.
Icy weather
Please take extreme care during cold conditions. The access ramps and adjacent areas are regularly salted during frosty periods. Salt can be provided to customers who wish to salt their own pontoon berth. Please contact the Marina Office for assistance.
Swimming/diving
Swimming is not permitted within the confines of the marina. Diving operations are only permitted with the express written permission of the marina manager and is subject to compliance with current Health & Safety legislation.

- The area around your boat should be kept clear. All equipment or materials should be kept aboard or removed from site
- All debris must be disposed of/removed prior to finishing work on each day
- Children are not permitted to 'play' in the boatyard and must be closely supervised at all times
- No hot work e.g. welding/grinding to be undertaken without the written permission of the marina manager
- Please check power cables are in good condition and run in such a way as not to pose a trip hazard. All leads/power tools should be fitted with outdoor plugs
- For your own safety customers are reminded of the hazards associated with working high above ground level on decks of boats and up ladders and scaffolding
- Owners of yachts are strongly advised to un-step their masts during winter storage
With the mountains of Snowdonia National Park as a backdrop, Conwy Marina is the ideal base from which to cruise the picturesque cruising grounds of the North Wales coast.
With sufficient rise of tide, shallow draught vessels can explore the Conwy River as far inland as Tal-y-Cafn, where you can secure alongside for lunch.
In the opposite direction there are the bays and unspoilt coves of Anglesey, along with the beautiful Menai Straits to be explored.
And after a pleasant day's sail, what could be better than to spend the evening in one of the many local anchorages, sampling the nearby island hospitality.
Anglesey is a delightful cruising ground in itself, with a sheltered anchorage always nearby. Further afield, there is the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, Bardsey and the Tudwells Islands, whilst Pilot's Cove, Porth Dinllaen and Aberdaron are attractive ports of call on passage to Pwllheli or Barmouth.
The breathtaking coastline of Ireland is only 85 miles away.
The ports of Dublin, Malahide, Carlingford and Strangford Lough are just a few of the many delightful harbours along the east coast. And Irish hospitality is second to none!
The Isle of Man is another popular destination, and port of call on passage from Strangford Lough or the west coast of Scotland. In settled conditions, this too is a delightful cruising ground in itself, and the Port St. Mary Yacht Club offers a warm welcome to visiting yachtsmen.
